On a Stroll at Riverfront City Park in Salem

Steam boat on the Willamette River

One of the gems in Salem for spending a relaxing walk with your dog is Riverfront City Park, set alongside the Willamette river in downtown Salem. There are all sorts of activities going on during the Spring and Summer.

Even on a cloudy day, I find the views of the river relaxing. The path along the river has great views and lots of smells to get your dog excited.

In some more remote areas you may be able to get away with letting your dog off leash, but it is not allowed and not really a good idea.  If your dog likes to swim, be careful. The current of the river is much stronger than it appears, and even with a long leash it could be dangerous.

Riverfront is home to a number of annual events, including the World Beat Festival, 4th of July Celebration, Summer Movies in the Park, Holiday Tree Lighting, and many various walk/run events.

The park’s amenities are included below.
